Motorised Crimp Joint Testers

MultiTest-d test stands

Our entry-level MultiTest-d test stands are a cost-effective solution for straightforward crimp joint tests. Most test standards require a motorised test system to attain a uniform crosshead speed of either 25mm or 50mm/minute and a the MultiTest-d guarantees repeatability, accuracy and precision.
  • Simple to operate
  • Combines with Mecmesin's digital gauges; AFG & BFG
  • Rugged design suitable for factory floor
  • Comines with data acquisition software for additional test evaluation options
  • Capacities from 0.5kN to 2.5kN

Grips and Fixtures

Mecmesin grips and fixtures are integral components of our test systems. We offer a wide range of pinch, vice and wedge grips and dedicated fixtures such as the rotational crimp receptacle for crimp joint testing applications. For specialised requirements we also offer a customised fixture design service to match your specification.

Crimp Joint Testing

Crimp joint testing measures the tension force required to pull apart or separate the components of a wire crimp, in most cases connected to a terminal or to another wire. The reliability of a multitude of products depends critically upon the this particular type of fastener.

Benefits of Crimp Joint Testing

These include:

  • Ensuring crimp joints are fit-for-purpose
  • Ensuring the safety and quality of products
  • Reducing material costs and achieving lean manufacturing goals
  • Compliance with industry standards

Standards

A number of national, international and military standards have been developed for testing crimp joints including:

  • ASTM B913
  • BS 5G 178 (Part 1)
  • DEF STAN 59-71
  • ISO 1966:1973
  • MIL-C-39029, MIL-DTL-22520G, MIL-T-7928
  • NASA-STD-8739-4
  • SAE/AS7928
  • UL486A

Such standards have generic similarities, each one defining a specific tensile load per cable gauge, which the crimp joint must be able to sustain without failure.
